Match Preview: Cardiff Devils vs Coventry Blaze (Challenge Cup)

The Cardiff Devils look to set the record straight with the Coventry Blaze after a disappointing defeat last week in the Challenge Cup.

The last time these two sides met was actually the last time these two teams played each other.

Coventry Blaze ran out 5-1 victors in a dominating display.

Goals on the night came from Evan Bloodoff, Alex Forbes, Justin Hamonic, Andrew Johnston and ex-Devil, Drew Schiestel.

Sean Bentivoglio scored the only goal for the Devils.

With the Devils missing Blair Riley due to an injury in the previous game to the Glasgow Clan we could see him return for this game.

The Devils currently sit top of their group on 4 points from 3 games where as the Coventry Blaze sit third with 2 points in 2 games.

The Cardiff Devils are also trialling a standing block for the first time in the Viola Arena to generate more noise and hopefully spur the players on.

Key Players

Cardiff Devils: Bryce Reddick, has helped his team going forward like many of the defencemen of the Devils, now it is time to solidify the defence after conceding 11 goals in the last 2 games.

Coventry Blaze: Drew Schiestel, its always exciting returning to a former rink and the defenceman will be very busy dealing with a strong Devils attack.
