Match Preview: Cardiff Devils Vs Graz 99ers

After the heroic 3-2 victory against Mountfield HK, the Cardiff Devils will now face Austrian side, Graz 99ers.

The Cardiff Devils got off to winning ways against Mountfield with goals coming from two new faces, Blair Riley and Mike McNamee, along with another from Charles Linglet.

This is Graz 99ers first ever Champions Hockey League campaign and have already tried to set a winning precedent.

In their first game they impressively beat the reigning champions, the Frolunda Inidans away from home 6-5. The game went all the way to a shootout, where Graz 99ers ended up taking the two points.

The Devils will again be without captain Joey Martin. New arrival Matias Sointu could make his debut infront of the Cardiff Devils fans.

Evan Mosey is also still out as he recovers from an injury picked up in the IIHF World Championships with Great Britain.

Graz 99ers had a fairly balanced pre-season winning two and losing the other 2 games they played.

In their pre-season they played; Stavanger, Langnau Tigers, Kolner and Rogle.

Key Players

Cardiff Devils: Gleason Fournier, he was key to most things that the Devils did well on Friday. Fournier produced many good chances on the powerplay even staying on the ice for three back to back shifts to set up the Devils second goal.

 

Graz 99ers: Colton Yellow Horn, highly ranked in the EBEL, Yellow Horn has always produced both goals and assist at the team he’s at. He also managed to get three assists last time out against Frolunda.
