Match Report: France 3-4 Great Britain OT

GREAT Britain survived the drop in a battle for safety against France by coming back from 3-0 down to win in overtime.

GB had two breakaways in the period through both Ben Davies and Liam Kirk but neither were able to take their chances.

France also had great opportunites through Damien Fleury before his shot was blocked by Tim Billingsley covering the empty side of the net.

Both teams were solid defensively and protected the house for the first period.

First Period: France 0-0 Great Britain

France take the lead through a great finish from Anthony Rech. He was assisted by Antonin Manavian and Tim Bozon. (23:36)

France doubled their lead on the powerplay. This time the attack was finished by Sacha Treille. Assisted by Alexandre Texier and Florian Chakiachvili. (27:31)

Straight from the restart France would add another goal. Anthony Rech would grab his second of the game after he was assisted by Valentin Claireaux. (27:37)

Robert Dowd pulled one back for GB late on in the second period. Ben O’Connor grabbed the assist after picking up the puck from a poor pass from France. (34:59)

Mike Hammond brought the deficit down by one again. A long shot from Ben O’Connor allows the rebound to fall perfectly for Hammond to just tap the puck in. Assists for both Ben O’Connor and David Phillips. (38:04)

Second Period: France 3-2 Great Britain

Robert Farmer would tie the game up in the third period with some great puck skill before blasting the puck into the net. Another assist for David Phillips. (45:16)

A relentless powerplay from France was killed by a brave GB side blocking multiple shots.

The game would head to overtime to decide who would be relegated from the top division.

Third Period: France 3-3 Great Britain
